David Baxter, Senior Advisor
Urban Futures
As Senior Advisor at Urban Futures, David Baxter is a recognized authority on the impact of demographics on the North American and international consumer landscape. David is the global mobility consul for the Washington, DC-based International Employee Relocation Council and a member of the British Columbia Government Economic Forecast Council. His academic career spans four decades, and includes teaching and lecturing at both Canadian and international universities.
David’s main focus at Urban Futures is on population and economic change and the resulting implications for business and society. His writing and presentations address such timely issues as understanding changing consumer markets, the shifting nature of work, the process of urban and metropolitan change, and the current state of health care.
Using demographic analysis, David forecasts and explains what the future workplace environment, economic climate and the marketing structures look like and how to recognize and conquer changes in demographics. Through his extensive research and network, David is able to customize his presentations to cater to nearly industry or public sector.
David has an esteemed history publishing his research, and has written reports, articles and books addressing regional economics, consumer behaviour and market trends, health care, employment trends, and the operation of real estate markets.
