The Sociable! Enterprise - "How social media and social networks are changing the way we work, collaborate, learn and lead.”

Speaker(s):
Shane Gibson

Social media are often thought of as solely marketing tools or something that Gen Y uses to pass time at the office. The reality is that social media and social networking are now present at all levels of business, society, and government and are even impacting culture. The question on most executives mind is:

“How do I increase collaboration and communication without jeopardizing my companies efficiency, privacy, and brand?”

These new media technologies if used effectively can help us establish what Judith Donath of the MIT Media Lab refers to as “Social Supernets.”  Social media can help increase brand awareness, improve knowledge management and promote collaboration and relationship development across organizations and communities.  In this 90-minute presentation Shane Gibson co-author of the new book Sociable! will share:

  • 10 free or inexpensive social media tools for collaboration and communications.
  • How “Digital Natives” that we employ have an entirely different means of relating to tasks and communications.
  • Why your company needs a social media use policy.
  • How to develop policies and guidelines that promote and not stifle communication, innovation and collaboration.
  • Tips on social media/network etiquette and use for people new to the technology.
  • Tips on recruiting using social media and social networks.
