Degree Programs

Advanced Standing in the B.Comm Program at TRU-OL

CMA members can apply for advanced standing towards the completion of a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Comm) from the TRU-OL. One of the few virtual universities in western Canada, TRU-OL offers a variety of certificate and degree programs via distance learning, enabling people who prefer independent self-study to customize a learning path that meets their specific needs.

There is currently one Articulation agreement between the Certified Management Accountants Society of British Columbia (CMA BC) and Thompson Rivers University, Open Learning (TRU-OL). This agreement allows students of CMA BC the opportunity to complete TRU-OL’s Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) Degree.

The degree completion opportunities through TRU-OL offer CMA BC graduates of the CMA Professional Program and the CMA Accelerated Program a variety of benefits including:

     
  • The opportunity to use maximum credit for the pre-assessed CMA programs in a streamlined process
  • The ability to continue their education while building a career
  • The ability to prepare for acceptance into graduate studies*
  • Flexible course delivery options

* Note: While TRU is a member of AUCC, TRU-OL cannot guarantee that any of its graduates will be eligible to enter the post-graduate programs of another institution. Students are encouraged to contact graduate programs directly to confirm eligibility.

Advanced Standing in the BBA Program at Kwantlen Polytechnic University

Kwantlen Polytechnic University agrees to facilitate the block transfer of designated CMAs who have completed the Strategic Leadership Program which began in 1991. Applicants who meet these requirements will be eligible for admission to Kwantlen Polytechnic University with full block transfer credit into the fourth year of the Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting degree program.

MBA Programs

Advanced Standing / Transfer Credit in MBA program offered on-line by Athabasca University

CMAs can apply for advanced standing and transfer credits in the Executive MBA program offered by Athabasca University (AU). For advanced standing, successful applicants receive course materials and write an exam but do not need to submit assignments. For transfer credits, successful applicants are awarded a direct transfer of credits that is based on previous coursework and experience, eliminating the need for these individuals to obtain materials, complete additional coursework, or write applicable exams.
